Fissure sealants
At Green Park Dental we believe that prevention is better than cure and it is important to start a good oral hygiene routine as early in life as possible. We can help protect your children’s teeth from an early age by applying a fissure sealant, a safe plastic coating that stops food particles and bacteria from causing tooth decay.
How your treatment works
Fissures are the thin grooves on the chewing surfaces of the teeth and they can trap bacteria, no matter how well they are brushed, which eventually can lead to tooth decay. For children aged 6-7 whose permanent teeth have emerged, we can apply a harmless plastic coating (a sealant), which prevents food particles and bacteria from sticking to the teeth.
We simply clean the teeth, brush on the sealant and harden with a curing light. The sealant then forms a tough and long lasting coating. This process is quick, easy, and totally painless. There is no need for an anaesthetic or drilling.

This is an invaluable treatment that provides long lasting protection from bacteria and decay for your children’s teeth.
