Crowns and Veneers
Crowns and Veneers are a way of cosmetically repairing chipped, cracked, worn or unsightly teeth. At Green Park Dental Practice we use both traditional materials and the more advanced porcelains to create a great looking smile.
A Crown or cap, is a laboratory made restoration to replace missing portions of a tooth
There are many indications for crowning a tooth, either aesthetic considerations or because of a lack of remaining tooth structure. If a tooth is broken down or heavily filled, the crown is placed to protect the tooth from the chewing forces we exert on our teeth whilst eating.
Crown materials vary and we provide gold crowns, porcelain bonded to metal crowns as well as the latest in the metal free alternatives for optimum aesthetics.
Our advanced zirconia and porcelain crowns allow light to be transmitted through the crown in a similar way to a natural tooth. No metal is used internally in the construction of the crown so there is no tell-tale black line round the edge which has been a common problem with older metal bonded to porcelain crowns

A Veneer is a thin layer of porcelain used to cover the front of a tooth
They are used when the tooth enamel has become worn, chipped or discoloured or the teeth have become misaligned.
Veneers are extremely thin but once bonded to the tooth are very strong. They are able to mask undesirable colours, such as from a very dark underlying tooth.
